Sarpanch close to former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi in Patiala district of Punjab has been arrested by the police in the UCO bank robbery case. Along with the accused Sarpanch, 3 other people were also involved in the incident. The incident took place at UCO Bank near Thana Ghanaur at 4 pm on Monday.

The accused had looted Rs 17 lakh from the bank in 15 minutes. The miscreants had fled on a bullet motorcycle after looting the money. After the accused released the bullet outside the marriage palace, one kilometer from Ghanaur, all three reached Rupnagar in a Swift car. Accused Dilpreet Singh Bhana’s farm motor was hiding and distributing the money. Meanwhile, the police arrested him.

Case solved in 8 hours
SSP Varun Sharma said that the arrested accused have been identified as Congress sarpanch Amandeep Singh resident of village Hafizabad, police station Chamkaur Sahib, district Rupnagar, Dilpreet Singh alias Bhana resident of Balsanda village, police station Chamkaur Sahib, district Rupnagar and Prabhdayal Singh Nikku and Narinder Singh resident of the same village. Village Balrampur, Thana Chamkaur Sahib, Roopnagar has been formed. It is being told that Sarpanch Amandeep Singh has been close to former CM Charanjit Singh Channi.

The main mastermind of the UCO bank robbery is Amandeep, who is the current sarpanch of Hafizabad village. He did Reiki of UCO Bank of Ghanaur, after which along with his other three companions reached to execute the incident on Monday. Three accused, including the sarpanch, entered inside the bank, who by showing weapons took hostage all the staff including bank manager Amit Thamman, resident of Sunny Enclave Devigarh Road.

Vehicle changed from Shambhu Road
Accused Prabhdayal Singh was waiting for him on Shambhu Road with a Swift car. Within 15 minutes, after looting 17 lakh rupees from this bank without security guard, all three ran away with a bullet motorcycle of a bank customer.

The SSP said that as soon as the information about the incident was received, the team under the supervision of SP-D Harbir Atwal, DSP-D Sukhamrit Randhawa, DSP Ghanaur Raghubir Singh, Ghanaur Incharge Sahib Singh had reached the spot. After this, technical investigation was started. With the help of the teams, the accused were arrested by taking the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area and the dump of the location of the mobile tower. Police has made 100 percent complete recovery from the accused.

Sarpanch Amandeep has 7 cases registered
Sarpanch Amandeep Singh, arrested in the robbery case, has been close to former CM Charanjit Singh Channi. Amandeep Singh, 35, is 10th pass, against whom seven cases are registered. Five cases have been registered against him in Rupnagar district, one in Fatehgarh Sahib and seven including the Ghanaur case. 27-year-old accused Dilpreet Singh is eighth pass, against whom two cases are already registered in Rupnagar. While 47-year-old Narinder Singh is 12th pass, who used to work as a daily wage worker. At the same time, 36-year-old Prabhdayal Singh is 10th pass, who used to work as a truck driver.
