Voting for the assembly elections will be held in the northeastern state of Tripura today. For this, a total of 3,328 polling booths have been set up in the state. The 28.13 lakh people of the state will decide the fate of 259 candidates. While the results will be declared on March 2.

Earlier there was a BJP government in the state and the CM was Manik Saha. Election campaigning in the state ended on Tuesday evening.

1100 booths sensitive, security tightened on 28
Chief Electoral Officer Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao said that voting will be held at 3,328 polling booths. Of these, 1,100 booths are sensitive, while 28 booths are ultra-sensitive. Strict security arrangements have been made in these areas. Section 144 was imposed in the state as soon as the election campaign was over.

BJP has 55 candidates, the number of women is also more
A total of 20 women are contesting for the post of MLA in Tripura elections. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting on 55 seats in Tripura, while its ally IPFT is contesting on 6 seats. BJP has fielded the maximum number of 12 women candidates.

Many veteran party leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Manoj Tiwari himself arrived to campaign for BJP. BJP also took out Vijay Sankalp Yatra.

On the other hand, Mamta Banerjee’s party TMC has also announced to contest elections on 47 seats. While the Congress has fielded a total of 13 candidates.

This time new party Tipra Motha is also in the fray
Apart from the ruling BJP and the CPIM-Congress alliance in the state, a new party is also in the fray this time. The name of this new party is Tipra Motha, which is headed by former royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debbarma. Unlike national parties, Tipra Motha can get the advantage of being local.

Tipra Motha has made ‘Greater Tipraland’ its election agenda. The party is contesting on 42 seats. Out of which 20 are tribal dominated areas. Significantly, there is a demand to create a separate state for the local tribes of Tripura through Greater Tipraland.

Tipra Motha Chief’s last election
Pradyot Kishor Manikya Debbarma announced on February 14, the last day of campaigning, that he would quit politics after the February 16 voting. He will never ask for votes as ‘Bubagara’ (King). Addressing a rally in Tripura, Pradyot, a scion of the erstwhile royal family of Tripura, said many leaders had deserted him without understanding his sentiments.

60 seats, majority on 31 – know how is the math of Tripura assembly

Elections were held on 59 seats in the state in 2018. BJP emerged as the single largest party. Got 35 seats. The BJP had demolished the stronghold of the Left for 25 years. Earlier Biplab Dev was made the CM, but in May 2022 Manik Saha was made the Chief Minister. This time CPM and Congress have joined hands to stop BJP. There is also another big party Mamta Banerjee’s TMC, which can give competition to BJP.

Home Minister claims – majority will be achieved before 12 o’clock on the day of counting

Home Minister Amit Shah has recently claimed in an interview that the BJP is going to form the government again in Tripura. Shah said- “We gave the slogan ‘Chalo Paltai’ to change the situation in Tripura and today we have changed the situation. Congress and Communist Party have come together, they have accepted that both alone cannot defeat BJP. Counting of votes The BJP will get absolute majority in Tripura before 12 noon the next day and form the government.”
