The Union Cabinet approved the raising of seven new battalions and a regional headquarters of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) guarding the India-China border. Along with this, 9400 new posts will also be created. An additional sector headquarters will also be created for the new battalion.

This decision has been taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. Giving information about the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that it was approved in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Work on 47 new border out posts and 12 strategic camps in progress
Thakur said that ITBP, which is monitoring the India-China border, is currently monitoring 176 border out posts. He told that more security forces, border out posts were needed to monitor the long border with China. It will be completed by 2025-26.

Apart from this, the government had approved the proposal of ITBP to set up 47 new Border Out Posts (BOP) and 12 strategic camps in January 2020 itself. Their work is going on fast. The proposal to create seven new battalions has been approved for the additional force that will be required for these. Let us inform that this year our army had a clash with Chinese soldiers.

Sinkula tunnel will be built for all weather connectivity of Ladakh
Thakur also informed about the approval for the construction of 4 km long Sinkula Tunnel for all-weather connectivity of Ladakh. An approach road will also be built along with it. Rs 1681 crore has been sanctioned for this. The tunnel will be built by 2025.

With its formation, the connectivity of Ladakh with other states of the country will be maintained in any season. Army will not have any problem in movement even in snowy weather. Thakur said that earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Atal Tunnel connecting Manali to Leh, which does not close in snowy weather.

Dairy cooperative in two lakh panchayats
Thakur said that in order to strengthen the cooperative movement, the cabinet also decided to form dairy cooperatives in 2 lakh panchayats. Steps will also be taken in the direction of fisheries. He said that all these steps will be taken in the next 5 years. Thakur said that the Panchayats would be linked with the National Dairy and Fisheries Schemes.

4800 crores will be spent on Vibrant Village
Thakur also informed about the new decision regarding Vibrant Village. He said that Rs 4800 crore would be spent on Vibrant Village Program and Rs 2500 crore would be given for roads. Thakur also said that a committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Cooperative Minister, which will come forward with three-level plans.

Will promote tourism in 2662 villages of the border
Thakur said that a total of 2662 border villages have been selected, where tourism will be promoted. This is important for the security of the country. This program will be kept separate from the border programme. He said that officers will also visit here from time to time. The money will be spent for Vibrant Villages in the border villages of Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh. 24-hour electricity and water facilities will be made available in these villages.
