The threat of cyclone is looming over Gujarat. This cyclonic storm rising from the Arabian Sea has been named ‘Biparjoy’. According to the Meteorological Department, Biparjoy can take a severe form in the next 36 hours. Its effect can be seen in Gujarat along with Kerala, Karnataka and Goa.

At present it is 800 km away from Porbandar in Gujarat. In view of the danger, all the ports of Gujarat have been asked to be on alert mode. All the beaches are being evacuated. In view of the danger of the storm, instructions have been issued to the ports of North Gujarat to take special precautions.

Instructions for activating Distant Cautionary-1 signal
The Meteorological Department has instructed to activate the Distant Cautionary-1 (DC-1) signal system at all ports of North and South Gujarat coasts. According to the portal of the Meteorological Department, DC-1 is activated at a port when there is a deep depression in the sea.

The DC-1 signal is activated when the local weather at the port is not likely to affect it immediately, but could endanger ships leaving the port. Along with India, Pakistan, Iran, Oman and countries adjacent to the Arabian Sea are also expected to be affected by this.
