A cloudburst in Gujarat’s Junagadh on Saturday afternoon caused flooding in the city. Here it rained 8 inches in just 4 hours. Due to this the whole city was submerged in water. The situation worsened as Mount Girnar adjacent to the city received 14 inches of rain. When the mountain water reached Junagadh city, the vehicles parked on the roads were washed away like straws.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Bhavnagar, Navsari, Junagadh and Valsad for Sunday as well.

3 to 4 feet water filled on city roads
In many areas including Durveshnagar, Ganesh Nagar, Joshipara of Junagadh, the roads are filled with 3 to 4 feet of water. A young man was swept away here, who was saved in time by the local people. Several two-wheelers have also been washed away in the areas. NDRF team is engaged in evacuating the people trapped in the flood.

More than 50 cylinders kept in the godown of the gas agency were washed away.

The Shetrunji Dam, the lifeline of Bhavnagar city and Saurashtra’s biggest, overflowed on Friday night. Due to this, 20 gates of the dam have been opened up to one feet.
