About 10,000 farmers are going to protest on foot from Dindori in Nashik to Azad Maidan in Mumbai. The foot march of the farmers, which started from Monday, passed through the Kasara Ghat on Wednesday. On seeing here from the drone, it seemed as if a dragon was walking on the road. These farmers are demanding tribals’ rights on land, MSP on onions and loan waiver.

Azad Maidan of Mumbai is 203 kms from Dindori. Farmers walk 25 kilometers daily. While walking, they raise slogans in support of their demands. Where they stay, they cook and eat food by lighting the stove there and make a strategy for the movement. Right now the farmers are about 100 kms away from Mumbai. Farmers have to reach Mumbai on March 20 and demonstrate.

Talks are also going on with the administration of farmer leaders. We are getting assurance from the administration that the demands will be met continuously. But the farmer leaders are demanding the government to announce the fulfillment of their demands.

Leaders like Left Party leaders JP Gavit, Ajit Navale and tribal-dominated Baglan, Kalwan, Dindori tehsils of Nashik district, laborers are also included in the Kisan March being taken out under the leadership of All India Kisan Sabha and Communist Party of India. .

Preparation of law and order and traffic plan
DCP Kiran Kumar Chavan told that we have deployed adequate police force to maintain law and order. Two routes have been made on the road so that the traffic is not affected.

Got only assurance from the government, no justice
Ajit Navale, general secretary of the Maharashtra unit of the All India Kisan Sabha, said – whenever onion prices fell, the farmers got only assurance from the government, not justice. We have been raising the issue of milk producers, but the government is only giving assurances. Farmers are taking out a foot march to build on the government for justice.

Third such movement in Nashik
This is the third such movement in Nashik. Farmers have taken out foot march in 2018 and 2019 as well. Both the times the government had stopped the agitation by assuring to fulfill the demands. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis had invited the leaders of the farmers for talks at Mantralaya on Tuesday, but bypassing it, the farmers went on foot march.
