On April 21, the body of a 17-year-old Dalit minor was found floating in a canal in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal. The family alleged that the girl was murdered after raping her, but the police said that it was not mentioned in the postmortem report. In protest against this, tribal and Rajbanshi community protested outside the Kaliaganj police station and set the police station on fire.
A video of the incident that took place on Tuesday has surfaced, in which some policemen are being mercilessly thrashed. The killers are also seen recording the videos.
On the other hand, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has said that all this has been done to create unrest in Bengal. People were brought from outside to burn the Kaliaganj police station. The property of those who set fire to the police station will be confiscated. The conspiracy to create anarchy in Bengal will be foiled. The death of both the girls and the incidents of setting fire to the police station will be probed.

According to Anand Bazar Patrika, after the police station caught fire, the policemen hid in a house to escape the mob, but the mob entered there too. There is news of 16 policemen being injured in this incident. While the police have arrested 22 people. Section 144 has been imposed in 4 wards of Kaliaganj till April 28.

One accused arrested, 4 policemen suspended for dragging dead body
Four police officers of ASI rank have been suspended for dragging the body of a minor girl in Sahebghata area of Kaliaganj. Raiganj’s SP Sana Akhtar gave this information on Tuesday. He said that this action was taken on the basis of the report after the departmental enquiry.
The police say that they have arrested a 20-year-old boy in connection with the incident. He said that the girl and the accused knew each other.
