The very next day after being suspended from the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, former CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s wife and MP Preneet Kaur has welcomed the party’s decision on Twitter. Preneet Kaur has given a clear reply to the party’s show cause notice on her Twitter.

Significantly, on the complaint of Amarinder Singh Raja Wading, President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, he has been suspended while taking disciplinary action. Gave three days time to reply as well, but Preneet Kaur has clarified her stand the very next day on her tweet on Saturday.

Preneet Kaur said on her Twitter that whatever decision Congress wants to take, it is welcome. He has always given his best to the party and the people who have elected him time and again. She is indebted to him and will continue to serve him as always. He gets his strength from his people. Everything else is secondary.

Preneet Kaur accused of anti-party activities
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Amarinder Singh Raja Wading had sent a complaint to the party high command accusing Preneet Kaur of indulging in anti-party activities. On the basis of this complaint, Tariq Anwar, member secretary of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the Congress, issued a letter suspending Preneet Kaur. In the letter, Preneet Kaur has been given three days to present her side.

Preneet Kaur, wife of Captain Amarinder Singh, has been elected to the Lok Sabha for the fourth time. He contested his first election in the year 1999 from Patiala seat and won. She won from Patiala in the 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections. During this, she was also a Union Minister in the Manmohan Singh government. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Preneet Kaur lost to Dharamvir Gandhi of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

In the 2019 elections, she again won and reached the Parliament. At that time there was a Congress government in Punjab and Captain Amarinder was the Chief Minister. In 2021, because of Navjot Singh Sidhu, the relationship between Captain Amarinder Singh and the Congress High Command soured. The Congress high command made Sidhu the head of the Punjab unit in July 2021 and in September 2021 demanded the resignation of the Captain from the post of CM.

Captain formed his own party in 2021, merged with BJP in 2022
Captain Amarinder left the Congress on 18 September 2021 along with resigning from the post of CM of Punjab. He formed a party named Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) on 2 November 2021. The Captain contested the Punjab Assembly elections held in February-2022 along with the BJP, but lost badly. After this, on 19 September 2022, Captain merged his party with BJP and himself joined BJP.

Preneet Kaur has been on target for a long time
The Congress high command also removed Navjot Sidhu from the post of its Punjab unit president after the debacle in the Punjab assembly elections and replaced him with Amarinder Singh Raja Wading as the new president. Preneet Kaur has been the target of Amarinder Singh Raja Wading and his team since day one. Raja Wading and other Punjab Congress leaders have been alleging that Preneet Kaur is working for BJP along with her husband.

In January, when Rahul Gandhi reached Punjab as part of Bharat Jodo Yatra, many leaders of the state raised the issue of Preneet Kaur in front of him. At the same time there were indications that the Congress party could take action against Preneet Kaur at any time.
