NDRF team rescuing people trapped in Beas river after releasing water from Pong Dam
There is no hope of relief from rain in Himachal for the next six days. The Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains for the next 96 hours in the plains and medium altitude areas of the state.
During this, incidents like heavy rain or cloudburst may also occur in some areas. In view of this, the public has been advised not to go to swollen rivers and drains and landslide areas. The weather will remain bad in the state till July 24.
Devastation happened here during 24 hours
During the last 24 hours, a car fell into a drain after about 20 meters of a road caved in on the Nankhadi-Pandadhar road in Shimla district. Due to this, 3 people in the car died.
On the other hand, about 55 people got stuck in the middle of Beas river in Miyani and Ghandara after releasing water from Kangra’s Pong Dam late on Monday night. They were rescued after an overnight rescue operation. On the other hand, in Mashu village of Transgiri region of Sirmour, due to torrential rains, many vehicles including farmers’ fields were washed away in water and debris.
The road near Nankhadi’s Sharan Dhank caved in, due to which a car accident resulted in the death of three people.
NH near Mandi closed for two days
The Chandigarh-Manali highway between Mandi and Pandoh remained closed for the third day today. It is expected that it will be restored after some time. On Monday evening, while removing debris from the road near six miles, large rocks had fallen on the dozer.
After this, the traffic between Mandi-Kullu was diverted via Chail Chowk. Due to this people are facing problems.
682 roads closed, more than 780 forms stalled
After the heavy rains of the last week in the state, 682 roads have remained closed for 9 days. Due to this, bus services on more than 780 routes have come to a standstill for a week. The movement of people is being badly affected. Due to the closure of the connectivity routes of rural areas, it is also having a bad effect on apple transportation.
4691 crore property destroyed
More than 400 drinking water schemes are also closed since a week. Due to this people are not getting clean water to drink. Government and private property worth Rs 4691 crore has been destroyed due to the havoc of monsoon in the state. 32 people died in the disaster caused by heavy rains. 12 persons are missing.
