- Meghalaya man shares fake video of EVMs that swing all votes to BJP, arrested

A person has been arrested in Meghalaya for sharing false information about EVMs. This information has been given by the Chief Electoral Officer. On February 16, a person named R Sangma shared a video of EVM on social media, claiming that all votes are going to BJP on pressing any button.
What is the whole matter?
The presiding officer of Rongjeng assembly constituency had complained in this matter. When the Election Commission investigated the matter, the claim related to EVM was found to be false. After this, the accused was arrested by registering a case under Section 171G of IPC. The accused has been accused of spreading false information related to the election.
Voting will be held on February 27
Tripura went to polls on February 16. Voting will be held in Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27. The results of all the states will be announced on March 2. An interesting feature of these elections is that the majority mark in all the three states is 31.

Elections were held on 59 seats in Meghalaya in 2018. The Congress had won the maximum 21 seats. BJP could get only 2 seats here. The National People’s Party (NPEP) got 19 seats. It formed the government together with PDF and HSPDP. He formed the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).
The parties here are in election mode for the last three months. Congress has already released the list of 40 and NPP 58 candidates.
