Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD broke a record previously held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. Kalki 2898 AD released on June 27.

Kalki 2898 AD is shattering records at the box office. The Nag Ashwin film, which is headlined by Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan, has already earned Rs 300 crore worldwide at the box office. And now, it seems like it has set a new record with its ticket sale on a booking platform.

Fans noticed that as of 1 pm, Kalki 2898 AD has sold over 90k tickets. At the time of reporting, BookMyShow revealed that 93.77k tickets were sold in an hour’s time. This is a new record set by the film. Previously, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan held the record. Back in September, Jawan allegedly sold 86k tickets in less than an hour. News18 could not verify this claim at the time of publishing.

Kalki 2898 AD heavily draws inspiration from Mahabharat. The film is set in a dystopian future and revolves around four people — a pregnant woman named Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who is said to be carrying a child that is the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who has been tasked to protect the unborn child; a ruthless villain named Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will be the end of the baddie; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who would sell anyone in return of money.

According to Sacnilk.com, at the time of reporting, Kalki 2898 AD collected Rs 67.1 Cr India net across languages on Saturday, Day 3. With this, Kalki 2898 AD has collected Rs 220 Cr (approx) in India in just three days. The highest contribution has been from the Telugu screenings (Rs 126.9 Cr), followed by Hindi (Rs 72.5 Cr) and Tamil (Rs 12.8 Cr). Kalki 2898 AD is said to have collected over Rs 100 crore (gross) on just the third day at the box office.

The film is being loved by all. News18 Showsha rated the film 4/5 and was all praise for Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas’ performances in the film.
